Mod authors, once your mod is updated for BEYOND, please tag your mod with the No Man’s Sky:Beyond category. I have also made a No Man’s Sky: BEYOND category for mods. I would like to thank all those involved in this process, from creating the tools, to mod authors, to those who moderate the No Man’s Sky’s various online communities. It will take some time for those in the modding community to update the tools needed to mod the game, and then for authors to update their various mods. If you are looking for a gaming PC to play No Man's Sky or other games, you can have a look at best gaming PCs here. We are all excited for No Man’s Sky largest update yet, however with so many changes made to the game, nearly all mods will need to be updated to work correctly. So I had to play with it until it worked.Hello again everyone, it’s finally here! The long awaited largest update for No Man’s Sky ever! You can read more about it in the patch notes available here. The way to create them isn't fully documented. The "tombstone" marks the file as dead/deleted.īut the tombstone files aren't created the way a normal file is.

If you create DISABLEMODS.TXT as one of these tombstone files in WritablePackageRoot, Windows hides it and the original as if they were deleted. I discovered there is a special type of file Windows calls a WCI_TOMBSTONE. Either way DISABLEMODS.TXT exists and does what it's name says. If you remove it, the game sees the original in it's installation folder. Since if you have a DISABLEMODS.TXT file in there, the game sees your file. It seems like WritablePackageRoot can only add or overwrite, not delete. This makes it easy to add mods, you just create the mods folder in WritablePackageRoot (under GAMEDATA\PCBANKS\MODS like on Steam or GOG.)īut, the game won't load mods until you remove the file DISABLEMODS.TXT from the GAMEDATA\PCBANKS folder.

If you put a file in there with the same name as a file in the No Man's Sky installation folder, it will load your new file instead of the original. No Man's Sky has a special folder called WritablePackageRoot. When I write instructions for things I make, it doesn't help if only I understand them! Lets try a different way, does this make sense? (If you have the time and interest to read it.) Yeah, I need to work on how to phrase technical stuff to be understood.
